I love working in an elementary school; there is always a sense of excitement in the air and the teachers I work with are amazing. They are so kind and sympathetic to the students. The only downside to working in a school is that come this time of year, we inevitably say goodbye to some staff.
This is only my second full year at this school, but starting last year, I decided to make soaps for any departing staff. Fortunately for me, our mascot is a chinese dragon and I have just the mould!
Our school colours are blue and green, but I decided to go with just the blue for simplicity. I melted the 20 oz of soap needed for the background in a slow cooker and it turned out great. No having to keep reheating the base to have it melted to the right consistency, which also meant I didn’t have to worry about having several layers not stick together.
I would’ve liked to make the dragons pop more, but I think it turned out pretty good.
I hope that the soap will give the staff who’re leaving fond memories of their time at this school.
